Screening of Donated Blood for Transfusion Transmitted Infections by Serology and Response Rate to Notification of Reactive Results: A Tertiary Care Institutional Experience

Background: Safety for blood Transfusion begins with healthy donors. A basic part of preventing transfusion transmitted infections (TTIs) is to notify and counsel reactive This study analysed trends in the prevalence transfusion-transmissible infectious pathogens among donors them as well assess response rate them. Donor notification counselling protect health donor stop secondary transmission diseases.
 Methods: 38707 donations were screened TTIs, namely, HIV, HBV, HCV, syphilis, Malarial Parasite by serology. ELISA testing anti-HIV antibody, anti-HCV antibody HBsAg RPR test Rapid card Parasite. All retested duplicate notified their status communicating through telephone. 
 Result: We evaluated 341 (0.88%) cases screening results (0.617% 0.016% 0.134% 0.08% 0.031% Malaria ). Only 179 (52.5%) responded notification. The voluntary was better compared replacement (54.1 % versus 40.7 %). 101 (57.22%) responsive followed first attendance at referral clinic. Conclusion: Our provides TTIs importance proper TTI all who opt receive this information.
